Nub Theory

The nub theory is the most talked about gender theory.  In early baby development both boys and girls have a genital tubercle, which we refer to it as a ‘nub’. At around 9 weeks gestation they look identical on both boys and girls. This is where the theory comes in to play. From around weeks 11/12 the gender development goes through changes, therefore becoming  visible to the trained eye. The genital tubercle (nub) develops into either a penis or clitoris. this is possible to view from around 12 weeks by analysing the ‘nub’ in relation to the spine, known as the ‘angle of the dangle’. The boy nub is usually angled upwards 30 degrees or more in relation to the spine. The girl nub is either parallel or less than 30 degree from the spine. Our Nub theory page offers guidance and examples on how to understand your babies nub on your scan image. However, the Gender Predictors can assist you, if you’re unsure on how to read your scan. Accuracy ratings increase much nearer to week 15 (99.6% males and 97.4% females). Above all theories, this is the most popular choice by our customers.

Ramzi Theory

The Ramzi Theory is the earliest baby gender prediction theory known to date and therefore can be applied from week 5 gestation. Ramzi theory detects fetal gender between gestation weeks 5 -10. Ramzi Theory uses the placenta/chorionic villi location as a marker for fetal gender detection. This method correctly predicts the fetus gender in 97.2% of males and 97.5% of females early in the first trimester. Gender Predictors recommend submitting your scan dated around weeks 6-8 for higher accuracy. The scan must be in true transverse view to locate the placenta, and not sagital view. if your unsure please ask your sonographer at the time of your examination. A common misconception regarding the Ramzi method is the baby location. This method is not about baby location inside the uterus, its the placenta bulk either to the right or left that matters.

Skull Theory

The Skull Theory originated from the Anthropological approach to the study of humans. This theory suggests that male skulls are more blockier and large compared to the female skull which are more round and delicate. These differences only develop during maturity. Although there are no medical evidence to support this gender theory. It has developed a trend over the years as a method of baby gender prediction on many pregnancy sites. Mums-to-be claim it to have a high accuracy rate (92%). Gender Predictors recommend this theory as an addition to nub theory if your scan is a perfect profile view (sagittal view).
